IN
THE BEGINNING...
In
the beginning as the first ameobia crawled out of the primordial soup. Oops too
far
ALRIGHT...
I
have been seriously painting since March of 2001. After a divorce, I found that
I had a lot of free time on my hands. I remembered seeing the movie Beetle Juice,
and liked the furniture and art in the movie. I also like those animals I had
seen in Mexico that had all kinds of bright colors painted on them. After
going to my local bookstore, I purchased a book entitled Oaxacan Wood Carving
The Magic In The Trees by Sheppard Barbash. After looking at the pictures and
reading about the history of that style art, a seed had been planted. I then went
to my local Home Depot and purchased some paint.
| I
really had no idea what I wanted to do, so I figured I would start with my dining
room set. After the completion of the fourth chair a flood of ideas took over
and I have not stopped since. Click

Some
people ask me where do I get my ideas. I get my inspiration from everyday life.
Be it an animal pattern, a flower, a plant, a magazine ad, clothing item, or a
garbage truck. If I see something that stands out, I make a mental note and start
envisioning what an item will look like with that color. I tend to think about
ideas when I am out driving, exercising, or taking a shower. I guess when I am
relaxed is when ideas start flooding my head. Most
of my work is "off the top of my head". Nothing is really planned out.
My designs just evolve. When I run out of space to paint on an item, that is when
I know I am finished.
